BBC welcomes Wedding Day Winners

Wedding Day Winners will fill the gap left by The Voice

BBC1 in the UK has ordered a primetime Saturday night family entertainment show that sees couples competing against each other on their wedding days.

Wedding Day Winners (working title) will air in 2018, filling the gap left by The Voice’s move to ITV, and sees each couple’s family and friends attempting to win prizes before the bride and groom take their vows. The winning couple’s wedding will then be broadcast on screen.

The show is being produced by Panda Television Production, a label within All3Media’s Objective Media Group, and will be executive produced by Panda’s chief creative officer Moira Ross.

“This is an absolute first in the entertainment genre,” said Ross. “We all love a wedding and this is the biggest wedding day ever, brimming with love, laughter and ludicrously funny games – the love child of your favourite rom-com and classic warm-hearted gameshow.”

The show was commissioned by BBC Content director Charlotte Moore, controller for entertainment commissioning Kate Phillips and senior entertainment commissioner Jo Wallace.
