BBC takes Dyer back to his posh past

Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family sees the soap actor step back in time

BBC1 and BBC2 in the UK have unveiled a raft of factual programming including a history series fronted by UK celebrity Danny Dyer.

Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family (2×60’) is being made by UK-based Wall to Wall Media and will air on BBC1.

It sees soap actor Dyer living like his royal ancestors, after his connections to aristocracy were first revealed on BBC genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are?.

BBC2, meanwhile, will air Victoria & Albert: The Wedding (1×90′), described as an “authentic re-staging” of the event, with BBC Studios (BBCS) producing.

8 Days (1×90’) explores the first landing on the Moon and is from BBCS’s Science Unit, which is also working on The Planets with effects company Lola Post.

The show will feature physics professor Brian Cox and tells the story of each of the planets in our solar system, exploring their histories and potential futures.

Twinstitute, also from Wall to Wall, reveals how we can live more healthily, while documentary Male Circumcision (working title) explores the complex religious issues around the procedure. The 1×40′ show is made by Black Pepper Media and Matchlight Productions.

Pilgrimage: The Road To Rome is being produced by CTVC and sees eight celebs stripped of all luxuries attempt to complete the gruelling 1000km ancient Via Francigena Pilgrimage, starting in the Swiss Alps and ending in St Peter’s Square, Rome.
