BBC takes digital factual from Studio71

YouTube duo Come Curious front Sex In Seconds

UK pubcaster the BBC has commissioned a trio of factual series for its digital channels from Red Arrow-owned prodco Studio71, covering the fashion industry, sexual health and body image.

Fashion Conscious, Period Dramas and Sex In Seconds are being developed and produced by the UK arm of Studio71 for BBC iPlayer and the pubcaster’s YouTube and social media channels.

Fashion Conscious is hosted by presenter and model Grace Mandeville and is a six-part shortform series looking at sustainability issues in the fashion industry.

Sex In Seconds is fronted by Florence Barkway and Reed Amber, better known as YouTube duo Come Curious, and aims to provide straight-up sexual health advice in easy-to-digest episodes.

Period Dramas, meanwhile, is a six-part comedic factual series in which a dozen of the UK’s funniest new female comedians swap stories about menstruation.

Jody Smith, creative director of Studio71 UK, said: “We’re thrilled to be making three distinctive series for the BBC, all united in how they talk to a young audience. We’ve leant on our experience of working with new and digital talent to produce series that aim to resolve challenges through storytelling and discussion – that begins in the shows and will continue in people’s lives.”
