BBC offers $155k digital pot

The BBC is looking for companies to come up with “immersive digital” content ideas and has created a £100,000 (US$155,000) fund to support projects.

The UK pubcaster’s Future of Content programme was created to develop new digital experiences and the initiative now wants proposals using virtual reality, augmented reality and gaming technologies.

Content should be aimed at younger audiences aged 16-24 and should enable the audience to become part of the story.

Successful applications will be tested on its audiences via BBC Taster and could then be rolled out via the BBC’s online services.

Submissions are currently open and must be received by midnight on August 28. More information on how to apply can be found here.

The BBC is the latest UK broadcaster to explore the boundaries of new digital content, with UK-based Sky increasing its stake in Californian immersive specialists Jaunt last year.
