BBC moves for ITV comedy exec

The BBC has appointed a new comedy exec from rival broadcaster ITV to oversee the organisation’s in-house comedy production division.

Myfanwy Moore will become controller of UK comedy production for the UK pubcaster and will oversee all output as well as comedy series for radio.

She will take over from Mark Freeland after he became controller of fiction and entertainment at the BBC in December and lead on shows including Miranda, Mrs Brown’s Boys and W1A.

Moore was most recently commissioning editor of comedy at ITV and was responsible for scripted series including the recently-revived Birds Of A Feather, Plebs and Vicious. Before that she was editor of new comedy at the BBC until 2005 where she developed and produced Little Britain.
