BBC finds Flatmates with Zodiak Kids

Flatmates will air on BBC iPlayer

The BBC has ordered a children’s comedy drama for its iPlayer VoD service from Banijay-owned Zodiak Kids, which has also received a recommission from the kids’ nets of the UK pubcaster and Australia’s ABC.

BBC iPlayer will air Flatmates (10×30’), which follows a group of friends taking their first steps into adulthood. The show is executive produced by Zodiak Kids creative director Steven Andrew, with Raymond Lau producing.

Meanwhile, BBC kids’ channel CBBC and Australian children’s network ABC Me have ordered a fourth season of Bafta-winning comedy drama Secret Life of Boys (10×22’).

Creator and lead writer Anthony Q Farrell (The Office) is executive producing the fourth run alongside Trevor Klein and Zodiak Kids Studio creative director Steven Andrew. Amy Buscombe will executive produce the series for CBBC, with Jan Strading doing the same for ABC. The series will launch on CBBC in autumn 2019. Zodiak Kids is the international distributor of both shows.

In related news, BBC1 has commissioned further seasons of Eat Well For Less? and Shop Well For Less? (6×60’), renewing the shows for their respective seventh and fifth seasons. Both are produced by Banijay-owned UK firm RDF Television.
