BBC America visits Atlantis

BBC America has come on board fantasy drama Atlantis, a retelling of Ancient Greek myths from the creator of Misfits and co-creators of Merlin.

Atlantis (13×60′) was commissioned earlier this year by the BBC and is a coproduction between Urban Myth Films, BBC Cymru Wales and BBC America.

The series was created by Howard Overman (Misfits), Julian Murphy (Merlin) and Johnny Capps (Merlin) and is set in a time of legendary heroes and mythical creatures. It is currently being filmed in Wales and Morocco.

Set to air in the UK and US this fall, the cast includes Mark Addy (Game of Thrones), Jemima Rooper (One Man, Two Guvnors) and Juliet Stevenson (The Hour).

Richard De Croce, senior VP of programming a BBC America, said: “Atlantis is the perfect series for our long-running successful Supernatural Saturday programming block.”

Exec producers are Johnny Capps, Julian Murphy and Howard Overman for Urban Myth Films and Bethan Jones for BBC Cymru Wales.
