BBC America revisits Atlantis

BBC America has picked up the second season of its fantasy-adventure series Atlantis after airing just one episode of the first.

The 13-part season premiered in the US on Saturday and attracted 838,000 viewers, making it the highest-rated premiere ever for the cable channel’s Supernatural Saturday programming block.

The drama, which premiered on BBC1 in the UK in September, imagines the lost city of Atlantis as an adventure world and battleground for some of the most legendary names in Greek mythology.

Atlantis is coproduced by Urban Myth Films, Cymru Wales and the BBC. Johnny Capps, Julian Murphy and Howard Overman serve as exec producers for Urban Myth Films.

The renewal comes after the BBC ordered a second season of the show for BBC1 in the UK last month.
