BBC, Acorn TV pitch in for drama

UK pubcaster the BBC is teaming up with North American SVoD service Acorn TV to coproduce a daytime drama series starring Larry Lamb and Hayley Mills.

Pitching In is set around a caravan park on the North Wales coast and tells story of three generations of the same family, all struggling to make the best of an unusual situation.

It is produced by UK indie LA Productions (Broken, Moving On) in association with BBC1 Wales and BBC1 Daytime. Acorn Media Enterprises, Acorn’s UK development subsidiary, is the North American and Australian coproduction partner on the series, with the show set to appear on the RLJ Entertainment-owned streamer as an Acorn original.

It will air on BBC1 Wales and BBC1 Daytime in 2019. German distributor ZDF Enterprises has distribution rights for the rest of the world.

Acorn has been ramping up its original commissions in 2018, with Sly Fox Productions- and Ferncroft Media-produced Queens of Mystery its most recent order.

Pitching in and Queens of Mystery join Acorn’s straight-to-series order of detective procedural London Kills and its revival of former Sky comedy-drama Agatha Raisin on it UK originals slate.
