BBC, ABC pick Acorn Media dramas

AMI police drama London Kills

Broadcasters in the UK and Australia have acquired shows from Acorn Media International (AMI), the global division of RLJ Entertainment.

BBC1 has picked up seasons one and two of police drama London Kills, starring Sharon Small (The Inspector Lynley Mysteries) and Hugo Speer (Father Brown).

It marks AMI’s first sale to a free-to-air broadcaster in the UK and comes after the UK pubcaster teamed up with RLJ Entertainment-owned North American streaming service Acorn TV to coproduce daytime drama Pitching In.

Meanwhile, ABC TV in Australia has picked up Finding Joy and second-window rights to Keeping Faith from AMI.

Finding Joy was created by Irish actor and comic Amy Huberman, who writes and stars in the sitcom, which will premiere on iView followed by ABC Comedy. A second season of thriller Keeping Faith, starring Eve Myles, is in production.

AMI will be attending MipTV in Cannes next week with a slate of scripted series including Queens of Mystery, Blood, Straight Forward and Sando.
