Baxter lined up to head eOne TV

Transatlantic producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has appointed a new president of its television arm ahead of current incumbent Peter Emerson’s departure.

Stuart Baxter will take up the role at eOne Television International, reporting to eOne Television CEO John Morayniss, and oversee all sales, acquisitions, coproductions and partnerships for the firm. He will be based in London.

Baxter was most recently at Sony Pictures, where his remit included TV programming and film distribution, before his departure in 2012. He has also spent time at Warner Bros International Television.

Emerson will leave eOne in the summer having decided to relocate back to Toronto. He joined the company in 2008 after it bought his distribution outfit, Oasis International, and moved to London in 2012 to head the firm’s international TV expansion in Europe.

The appointment is the latest recent development for eOne, which revealed a partnership with US producer IDW in April and named British businessman Allan Leighton as its new chairman and non-exec director in March.

The firm moved into factual programming by signing a first-look agreement with Jonathan Drake’s Three River Studios in January and also unveiled a US$400m warchest to invest in new programming.

It also recently signed output partnerships with El Rey Network and AMC Networks.
