Batwoman swoops into CW Sundays

Ruby Rose in The CW’s new superhero drama Batwoman

UPFRONTS: US broadcast network The CW has gone for a superhero-heavy Sunday in its fall line-up, with new series Batwoman premiering before the return of Supergirl.

Batwoman stars Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black) and is based on characters from DC Comics. US outfits Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television are producing.

The CW’s second new commission for the fall season is Nancy Drew, a supernatural take on the classic detective character from CBS Television Studios. That show will get its bow on Wednesdays at 21.00 after returning teen drama hit Riverdale, which enters its fourth season.

A new-look Monday sees high-school football series All American followed by superhero series Black Lightning, while comic-based duo The Flash and Arrow will air back-to-back on Tuesdays.

The 15th and final season of Supernatural will air on Thursdays at 20.00, leading into Legacies at 21.00. Charmed is moving from Sundays to Fridays at 20.00, where it will be followed by Dynasty.

A third new commission, Katy Keene, based on the Archie Comics character, will get a midseason debut. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, In the Dark, Roswell: New Mexico and The 100 will all return for new runs in midseason.
