Banijay picks up Survivor, ventures into Maze

The Australian version of new Banijay format Survivor

UK-based Banijay Rights has acquired reality formats Survivor, from Castaway Television Productions, to sit alongside The Crystal Maze on its sales slate.

The programmes complement other adventure reality shows on Banijay’s books including Fort Boyard, Temptation Island, 71 Degrees North and The Bravest.

“Survivor is one of the strongest brands in television. One of the first reality formats, it continues to play around the world in major territories such as the US, France and Australia, and has recently found new audiences in Greece and New Zealand,” said Andrew Sime, VP formats at Banijay Rights.

“The Crystal Maze is one of the most distinctive and enduring formats ever to have been produced in the UK. Updated for 2017 by Fizz, part of RDF Television, for Channel 4, the format has quickly established itself as a favourite among younger viewers.”

Banijay Rights will present a range of other new formats created by Banijay Group companies at Mipcom this month, including Street Food Battle from Italian producer DRY and newly recommissioned primetime entertainment contest Celebrity School from Brainpool in Germany.
