Banijay links up with Arcadia for factual

MIPCOM: French distributor Banijay Rights has signed an agreement with Canadian independent prodco Arcadia Content to co-develop factual projects.

Arcadia’s If We Built It Today airs on Science Channel

Arcadia Content has experience in producing history and science programming and has already planned a slate of programmes with Banijay, including Disaster: If It Happened Today and CGI diving series Wreck Raisers.

The prodco has more than 500 hours of premium factual programming on it slate, such as If We Built It Today, which airs on Discovery-owned Science Channel.

The agreement follows Banijay’s recent deals with Touchdown Films and First Look TV.

“Arcadia Content is a real trailblazer in the factual world, producing entertaining and illuminating documentary films and series for leading broadcasters around the globe,” said Andreas Lemos, commercial director, factual at Banijay Rights.

“We are delighted to be working closely together to co-develop and co-fund new projects, enabling them to create even more intriguing science and history programming for eager viewers.”

The announcement was made here at Mipcom this week.
