Banijay enters Ray Winstone’s World

Ray Winstone’s World: Sicily is the first factual series the actor has worked on

Distributor Banijay Rights has linked up with London- and LA-based indie SWR Media to fund a travelogue series fronted by British actor Ray Winstone.

Ray Winstone’s World: Sicily (6×60’) is the first factual show Winstone has worked on and will see him explore the Italian island he has made his second home, looking at Sicilian homes, kitchens, churches, temples and vineyards.

The project is the latest to be funded by UK-based Banijay using a model that is not dependent on a broadcaster commission. A previous series funded by the distributor in this way was Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer from First Look TV.

Winstone will be joined by friend and restauranteur Bruno Zoccola and sports broadcaster Matthew Lorenzo. They will also visit the summit of an active volcano, the Aeolian island of Lipari and city of Palermo.

The show is produced in association with Dash Pictures.
