Under the five-year deal, 560 Media will manage the collection of Banijay Rights’ international revenues through secondary television rights exploitation, including retransmission, educational off-air, recording levy and private-copy levies.

The deal was brokered by 560 Media CEO John O’Sullivan with Banijay Rights boss Tim Mutimer and head of legal and business affairs Jan Rowland.

In a separate deal, Banijay’s children’s distribution subsidiary, Zodiak Kids, has also tapped 560 Media to exploit secondary rights for its catalogue

560 Media was launched in 2016 by former Compact Media founder John O’Sullivan, aiming to take a “fresh approach” to secondary rights management and to allow companies to exploit parts of their catalogue that would otherwise be ignored.

It is now working with more than 70 producers and distributors, including ITV Studios Global Entertainment, BBC Studios, Discovery Communications, Avalon, TCB Media Rights and Hat Trick.

Other clients to have recently joined the collection agency include Peter Fincham’s Expectation Entertainment and children’s producer Wish Films.
