Banijay appoints new Zeppelin MD

Production group Banijay has appointed a new MD for its Spanish subsidiary Zeppelin, moving Amparo Castellano over from another of its Spanish companies.

Amparo Castellano

Castellano will lead Zeppelin with a remit to further build the company’s portfolio of programmes for the local and global markets, reporting to Banijay Iberia CEO Pilar Blasco.

She joins Big Brother prodco Zeppelin from DLO/Magnolia, another Banijay Iberia company, where she has been MD of entertainment since 2014.

Zeppelin is known for its anime and youth scripted productions, such as The Idhun Chronicles on Netflix, Virtual Hero for Movistar+ and the Spanish version of Skam, also for Movistar+.

As part of Castellano’s move, DLO/Magnolia’s non-scripted slate will become part of the Zeppelin portfolio. Titles on the slate include award-winning current affairs series Radio Gaga, docuseries such as Pioneras and entertainment shows such as Pop Up Chef and Sing On!.

Castellano began her career at Banijay Iberia label Gestmusic, spending 15 years producing formats including Operación Triunfo: Los Castings and Your Big Day (Tu Si que Vales).

Scripted projects will continue to be produced within the DLO/Magnolia label, under the direction of CEO José Manuel Lorenzo.

“Amparo is uniquely skilled in recognising and creating original ideas and driving innovative productions. Her commitment to creativity, along with a flair for leadership and management make her ideally placed to oversee Zeppelin,” said Blasco.
