Verizon will make more than 200 hours of ATV-produced original content per year available to its customers later in 2015 through an ATV-branded online channel.

This will be joined by family-oriented DreamWorksTV, which will feature live-action and animated shortform content, as well as some of the Shrek producer’s most well-known characters.

“It’s increasingly clear that ‘mobile first’ is the way millennials are consuming all types of content, especially HD video and music,” said Terry Denson, Verizon VP of content acquisition and strategy.

“We’re committed to working with only the best and most innovative content providers, like ATV, and driving opportunities as new content models emerge and customers experience the most in-demand and popular video in entirely new ways.”

ATV claims more than seven billion views of its content online and 112 million subscribers on YouTube. The firm was acquired by DreamWorks in 2013 for an initial sum of US$33m.

Alongside YouTube, other outlets for ATV’s content include Nickelodeon, which airs a sketch comedy series based on the company’s YouTube channels, and Netflix, for which ATV is producing a live-action reboot of Richie Rich.
