Michael Connelly is the author of 38 novels, including number one New York Times bestsellers Desert Star, The Dark Hours and The Law of Innocence. He’s also known for the Lincoln Lawyer, Renée Ballard and Harry Bosch, with the latter book series adapted into a TV show for Amazon Prime Video as part of its inaugural move into originals a decade ago.

Bosch, which stars Titus Welliver as a hard-bitten Los Angeles Police Department homicide detective, ran to five seasons on the subscription streamer, with spin-off Bosch: Legacy spearheading originals on Amazon’s ad-supported service Freevee.

With a second season of the latter debuting this month, taking Bosch’s total season tally to an impressive seven, Connelly spoke to C21 about the series’ enduring appeal, his relationship with Amazon and concerns about artificial intelligence, with the author alongside Game of Thrones’ George RR Martin and others recently launching a class action lawsuit against ChatGPT creator Open AI.
