Autentic stocks up for Cannes

MIPDOC: Germany’s Autentic Distribution has arrived at Mipdoc in Cannes this weekend with three new documentary projects on its slate, including a Dutch series focusing on the history of terrorism.

Terrorism Close Calls

Terror! Was originally produced by Topkapi Film for the Dutch broadcaster NTR and examines historically significant terrorist attacks using interviews, archive and reconstructions.

The 6×50’ series looks at whether the willingness to use violence is increasing around the world. Autentic’s slate also includes one-off doc Sisi: Assassination of an Empress (1×45’) and Netflix’s 10×50’ true crime series Terrorism Close Calls from KM Plus Media and Big Media.

Another new addition to the slate is At Our Neighbour’s Table from Berlin Productions for Franco-German cultural broadcaster ARTE.

The 130×30’ series showcases the culinary treasures of those know food best: farmers, winegrowers, cooks, housewives, fishermen and more.

Other food and travel series slated include Iberia’s Rivers of Life (5×52’/45’) by doc.station and 1×90’ or 1×52’ series Last Treasures of the Earth by Filmtank.

Looking ahead of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, Autentic has added Tuna on Tour (1×52’) which focuses on the enormous traditional fish market in the heart of the city which had to move to an artificial island on its outskirts to accommodate development for the games.

Rebels for the Olympic Games (5×30′, 3×52′) by Boomtown Media, is also included, focusing on skateboarding’s inclusion in the competition for the first time in an attempt to attract younger viewers.

Finally, Tokyo – The Safest Games in the World? (1×45’) looks at how technology is being used to try and make the event as safe as possible in a geologically active part of the planet.
