The RLJ Entertainment-owned company will launch Deep Water (4×60′), inspired by a vicious crime wave that swept Sydney’s coastal communities in the 1980s and 90s, on November 7.

BBC4 in the UK is among the other international broadcaster to have taken the series, as revealed by C21 last month.

Deep Water is a Blackfella Films production for SBS Broadcasting Australia, Screen Australia and Screen New South Wales. It is accompanied by a 90′ documentary about the crime epidemic that targeted homosexuals.

Both Acorn TV and BBC4 have also picked up the second season of political thriller The Code (6×60′), which is produced by Playmaker Media for Aussie pubcaster ABC.

Meanwhile, Acorn TV is coproducing the four-part drama Striking Out alongside DCD and Irish broadcaster RTÉ. DCD will launch the show at Mipcom next month.
