AT&T revs up Mr Mercedes

Mr Mercedes is based on Stephen King’s Bill Hodges trilogy

DirecTV-owned AT&T Audience Network has ordered a second season of Mr Mercedes, its adaptation of a trio of Stephen King novels.

Sonar Entertainment is set to begin production on the 10×60′ season next February in Charleston, South Carolina, with the show due to return to screens later in 2018.

Television veterans David E Kelley (Big Little Lies) and Jack Bender (Lost, Under the Dome) will return to write the script and direct, respectively. King, Kelley and Bender will also continue to serve as executive producers, along with Dennis Lehane, who will also write.

The second season will be based on King’s Bill Hodges trilogy, which includes the novels Mr Mercedes (2014), Finders Keepers (2015) and End of Watch (2016).

The first season followed retired police detective (Brendan Gleeson) as he is taunted by a demented killer (Harry Treadaway), forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private crusade to bring the killer to justice.
