Atresmedia reshuffles senior execs

Spanish broadcaster Atresmedia TV’s long-serving head of fiction, Sonia Martínez, is moving to the company’s production division, to be replaced by an exec from Endemol Shine-owned producer Diagonal TV.

Sonia Martínez

Martínez, head of fiction at the channel since 2006, has been promoted to editorial director of Atresmedia Studios.

She was involved in the development of hit Spanish series including Netflix’s La Casa De Papel (Money Heist), Vis a Vis (Locked Up), Amazon’s La Templanza, La Catedral del Mar and Fariña.

Before moving to Atresmedia, Martínez served as deputy head of fiction at Spanish broadcaster Telecinco.

To replace her, Atresmedia has hired Montse García from Endemol-owned prodco Diagonal TV, where she served as company director. Jordi Frades has been announced as her replacement at Diagonal.

Montse García

García has previously served as head of production and Spanish representative for Sony Pictures International, where she worked on projects including Los Simuladores and Matrimonio con Hijos for broadcast in Spain. She also held the role of head of production at Globomedia Televisión.

García has developed and produced fiction projects including La Señora, República, Isabel and Carlos Rey Emperador for national pubcaster TVE, as well as working on titles such as Sin Identidad, La Catedral del Mar and Matadero for Antena 3.

Atresmedia Studio was launched as a drama production outfit in 2017.
