Assmus joins Red Arrow’s Dorsey

The US reality TV veteran behind unscripted hits Pimp My Ride and The Biggest Loser has signed a deal with Denver-based television production company Dorsey Pictures.

Matt Assmus

Matt Assmus and his shingle MTA Media have joined forces with Dorsey, and in his new role he’ll oversee Dorsey’s current productions and bolster development with his own projects.

Additionally, Dorsey has upped casting producer Whitney Hayes (Tiny House Big Living, The Treehouse Guys) to development coordinator. Both Assmus and Hayes will join the development team led by veteran unscripted producer Allison Boon, Dorsey’s VP of development.

After spending 13 years in LA, Assmus recently moved back to Colorado’s state capital to launch MTA. While in LA, he amassed credits including Pimp My Ride, The Biggest Loser, Fear Factor and Beauty & The Geek. He previously worked at 3Ball Productions.

“Matt is a veteran producer and we are excited for him to bring his slate of programming and production experience to the Dorsey Pictures team,” said Chris Dorsey, CEO of Dorsey Pictures.

“With Chris and Whitney joining Allison and the rest of our team, we have the breadth to expand our scope of programming and to explore new frontiers and areas of focus.”

Dorsey Pictures was formerly known as Orion Entertainment until it was acquired by Germany’s Red Arrow Entertainment Group last year. The company makes cable shows such as Tiny House Big Living and Living Big Sky for HGTV, as well as Building Alaska and The Treehouse Guys for DIY.
