Arrow fires Nat Geo original to Disney+

The latest National Geographic original series to launch on Disney+ will be a docuseries filmed around the Mouse House’s animal parks by UK indie Arrow Media.

Josh Gad

Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom will launch on the streaming platform on September 25 and is narrated by Josh Gad (Frozen, Frozen II).

The eight-part series gives viewers an all-access pass to explore Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and The Seas with Nemo & Friends at the Epcot Theme Park.

Filmed across five months, the series uses cutting-edge technology – including custom-built GoPro enclosures, 18-foot cranes and underwater camera systems – to explore the parks.

As well as looking at the more than 300 species and 5,000-plus animals in the parks, the series also studies the tasks animal care experts undertake to keep things running day and night.

Ashley Hoppin is the executive producer for National Geographic and Tom Brisley, Ash Potterton and Rick Dowlearn are exec producers for Arrow Media. Dean Bushala is the supervising producer.

Disney+ is the dedicated streaming home for movies and shows from National Geographic, which the Mouse House acquired as part of its multibillion-dollar purchase of key 21st Century Fox assets, as well as Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars content.
