Arnie will be back as The Governator

Former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that his much-speculated new television project will see him become a cartoon superhero.

The ex-Mr Universe and action movie star has hooked up with SpiderMan co-creator Stan Lee on The Governator. The series sees him donning a superhero’s cape to fight super-villains known as Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars & Irredeemable Ex-cons (G. I. R. L. I. E. Men).

“The governator is going to be a great superhero, but he’ll also be Arnold Schwarzenegger,” Lee told Entertainment Weekly.

The series is being produced by former DIC Entertainment chief Andy Heyward’s US animation firm A Squared Entertainment, according to reports.

The series will be one of the major attractions at MipTV next week. Schwarzenegger – star of The Terminator films and True Lies – is flying to Cannes to formally announce the project, his first since his second term as governor of California ended this year.
