Armstrong doc sells globally

CNN in the US has joined broadcasters in Europe and South America in acquiring a one-off documentary about disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong from Australian pubcaster ABC.

The World According to Lance (1×45′) will air on CNN this Saturday, October 27, in the wake of Armstrong being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned from cycling for life because of doping allegations.

Produced in-house for ABC’s long-running Four Corners current affairs strand, the doc talks to people who raced with and against Armstrong and testify to his drug use. Armstrong has always denied wrongdoing and has never failed a drug test.

The doc has also been sold to VRT in Belgium, TV2 in Norway and Denmark, NOS in the Netherlands, Brazil’s Globosat, CBC in Canada, MNet in South Africa and Prime in New Zealand.

The sales have been concluded by Journeyman Pictures, the European sales agent of ABC’s distribution arm ABC Commercial.
