Archer moves to FXX

Archer is moving to FX sibling channel FXX

Animated spy comedy Archer will shift to US entertainment network FXX for its eighth outing.

The show, already renewed through to a 10th season, will move from flagship channel FX to youth-skewing sibling FXX for its eighth run.

The programme will join an FXX line-up that includes It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Man Seeking Woman and You’re the Worst, which also moved over to FX from FXX after its debut season.

Archer, from FX Productions and Floyd County Productions, follows a spy agency whose employees see global crises as simply opportunities to undermine and betray each other.

The news comes after FX launched comedies Atlanta, Baskets and Better Things in 2016, all of which will return for second runs in 2017.

The airdate for Archer season eight is yet to be confirmed.
