AOL UK names new MD

AOL in the UK has hired an executive from Google as its new MD following the departure of Noel Penzer.

The online platform has appointed Hamish Nicklin as MD of AOL UK, giving him responsibility for the operations and commercial success of the business.

Nicklin, who starts in June, will report to AOL’s head of international, Graham Moysey.

He replaces Penzer, who left to become European MD of Time Out Group last week, and will oversee the company’s content brands, programme platforms and video, as well as having other responsibilities.

Premium video platform AOL On launched less than a year ago and recently commissioned two original UK video series, Being Mum with Tess Daly and Rochelle Humes and 30 Something with Richard Bacon.

At Google, Nicklin had been director of agency sales since 2012. He joined the company in 2006 as industry head of financial services.
