Antenna, Hervé hear Sounds of a Nation

Sounds of the Nation spotlights a country’s folk music traditions

A Greek broadcaster and a French indie have acquired the rights to folk music competition format Sounds of the Nation from Turkey’s Global Agency.

France’s Hervé Hubert and Antenna TV, which operates commercial channel ANT1 in Greece, are set to adapt the format.

Sounds of the Nation focuses on a nation’s folk music and involves taking celebrities to their home towns to find local performers.

It is currently airing on Slovakian network RTVS 1 and has been picked up for a second season

“The format is all about going back to the roots and showcasing the traditions to viewers from different backgrounds,” said Izzet Pinto, founder and CEO of Global Agency.

He added that the company is set to close deals for the show in China, the Czech Republic, Russia and Turkey and is talks in other territories.
