Anne goes back to Netflix, CBC

Anne with an E will enter production on season three this year

Global streamer Netflix and Canadian pubcaster the CBC have renewed their original drama based on classic novel Anne of Green Gables for a third season.

Anne with an E tells the story of a young orphan who fights against the odds for acceptance and the love of her adoptive family. It has been adapted from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s 1908 book.

The series was created by Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad, Flesh & Bone), with Toronto-based Northwood Entertainment producing.

Walley-Beckett is also the showrunner and executive produces the series alongside Miranda de Pencier (Beginners, Thanks for Sharing), Debra Hayward and Alison Owen.

The second season of the show debuted on Netflix in July and will air on the CBC on Sunday September 23. The 10×60’ third season is slated to begin production later this year to launch on the CBC and Netflix in 2019.
