Animal Pictures draws up deal with Amazon

Amazon Studios has signed a first-look deal with Bridesmaids star Maya Rudolph and Orange Is the New Black actress (OITNB) Natasha Lyonne’s fledgling shingle Animal Pictures.

Under the pact, the creative partners will produce original series for Amazon Studios, through their Animal Pictures banner, for Amazon’s Prime Video SVoD service.

The deal marks a continuation of the relationship Rudolph has with Amazon, with the Saturday Night Live veteran currently starring in and exec producing Prime original series Forever.

Rudolph has previously starred in numerous Hollywood feature films and also currently voices a character on Netflix’s adult animation Big Mouth.

Lyonne began her film career in Pee-wee’s Playhouse and has starred in the American Pie films before becoming a series regular on Netflix’s OITNB. She co-created Netflix’s upcoming series Russian Doll with Amy Poehler, a show in which she stars, writes for and directs.
