AMCNI promotes for European sales

MIPCOM: AMC Networks International (AMCNI) in Central and Northern Europe has promoted one of its execs to oversee affiliate sales in more than 30 territories in the region.

Balázs Hajós

Balázs Hajós, who assumes the newly created role of VP of affiliate sales, has had his remit expanded to include oversight of the entire region’s affiliate sales activities.

This includes all sales activity for AMCNI’s portfolio in the Baltic States, Russia, Ukraine and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Hajós is now responsible for the distribution and revenues of 15 channel brands and is tasked with developing an overarching strategic distribution plan.

Most recently he was regional director of affiliate sales of AMCNI’s Budapest-based office, where he oversaw development of new distribution opportunities.

Hajós, who will continue to be based in Budapest, has been with the company since 2007 and before that worked for firms including France’s Canal+ Group.

Later this year, AMCNI’s Budapest office will take on responsibility for the global management of JimJam, the pan-European feed of SundanceTV and the Russian AMC and MGM feeds.

In 2016 US-based AMC Networks secured a raft of distribution deals to extend its channels reach across Europe, including partnering with Slovak Telekom/DIGI Slovakia, the country’s largest cable provider, to make AMC available as a 24/7 linear channel nationally.
