AMC locks up Globo drama deal

Supermax is set in a remote maximum security prison

AMC Networks has picked up two prison-focused Globo dramas that it will offer via its Sundance Now and Shudder streaming services.

Jailers, about correctional officers, and the Brazilian version of Supermax, a prison drama created by José Alvarenga Junior, Marçal Aquino and Fernando Bonassi, have both been acquired.

The deal, details of which were first reported by C21 in November, will see the shows become available to viewers in North America, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland in original Portuguese audio and local-language subtitles.

Supermax was made for Globo in Brazil, with an international Spanish-language version produced between Globo, Mediaset (Spain), TV Azteca (Mexico) and TVP (Argentina), in partnership with Teledoce (Uruguay).
