OTF alum to head sales at AMC Studios

AMC Studios has expanded its executive team by appointing the former VP of sales and coproductions at Amsterdam-based distributor Off The Fence as head of content sales.

Mark Dee-Shapland has taken up the newly created role and will continue to work from Amsterdam, reporting to LA-based Valerie Cabrera, senior VP of distribution for AMC Studios.

Dee-Shapland will be responsible for selling the off-network distribution rights to AMC Networks-owned programming internationally.

This includes series such as The Terror, Lodge 49, Brockmire, Stan Against Evil, Documentary Now!, Robert Kirkman’s Heroes & Villains of Comic Books, James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction, Murder in the Heartland (working title) and Talking with Chris Hardwick.

Dee-Shapland joined Off The Fence in 2009 and heled several positions at the factual distribution outfit during his eight years at the company, which recently rejigged its team.

Rick Olshansky and Stefan Reinhardt, co-heads of AMC Studios, said in a joint statement: “Mark is a seasoned executive with an impressive track record who will help drive our international sales business and bring AMC Studios content to buyers around the world.”

The Walking Dead producer AMC Studios is the in-house studio, production and distribution arm of AMC Networks, which owns and operates cablenets AMC, IFC, SundanceTV, WE tv and BBC America.
