Dystopian fantasy The Red Harlequin is based on books by Roberto Ricci

MIPCOM: Former AMC Networks distribution executive Marco Frazier has joined the UK firm leading the roll-out of a TV adaptation of dystopian fantasy book series The Red Harlequin.

Frazier, formerly senior VP of international distribution, digital and new platforms at AMC, has joined Pantomimus Media in the UK as head of corporate development.

Frazier will work with the books’ Italian author, Roberto Ricci, also MD of Pantomimus, to expand The Red Harlequin franchise across multiple platforms worldwide.

The Red Harlequin is an epic fantasy drama set in a world divided into six disparate Chrome nations, where citizens must wear masks bearing the colour of their homeland.

The project has been in the works since June last year and has the co-creator of kids’ sci-fi horror series Creeped Out, Rob Butler, on board as showrunner.

Frazier has more than 20 years’ experience leading distribution and business development for international programmers and broadcasters. He was the first senior AMC exec to be based outside the US and was also part of the original management team for ESPN in EMEA following the broadcaster’s sale of its Eurosport holding.

Frazier has worked extensively with SVoD services and also helped launch multiple thematic pay TV channels and brands.
