Amazon’s Magic casts spell over Nickelodeon

Amazon Prime live-action original Just Add Magic

Nickelodeon has acquired the international pay TV rights to Amazon Prime’s live-action series Just Add Magic from producer and distributor Sinking Ship Entertainment.

The serialised mystery, aimed at 6-11s, is based on the Cindy Callaghan book of the same name and follows the adventures of three friends after they discover a recipe book full of magic recipes.

The show currently runs to three seasons totalling 50×22′ episodes, while a spin-off titled Just Add Magic: Mystery City will launch in early 2020 on Amazon Prime before airing on Nickelodeon.

Amazon Studios began piloting original content for young audiences in 2012 but last year decided to pull away from commissioning new original programming for preschoolers and children.
