Amazon shows belief in American Gods

Amazon releases new episodes of American Gods S2 on Mondays

Streaming giant Amazon has renewed its original drama series American Gods for a third season to air on its Prime Video service.

The series, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, will return with Charles Eglee (Hemlock Grove, The Walking Dead, Dexter and The Shield) as showrunner.

Starring Ricky Whittle (The 100, Nappily Ever After) and Ian McShane (Deadwood, John Wick), American Gods tells the story of a war brewing between the traditional gods of mythological and an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting modern society’s love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.

Season two of the Fremantle-produced show finds the battle between Old Gods and New Gods moving inexorably towards crisis point as their destinies collide with those of men.

New episodes from the second run are being released every Monday for the next seven weeks on Prime Video around the world outside the US.
