Amazon secures UK rights to Alex Rider

Otto Farrant in Alex Rider

Amazon Prime Video has acquired the UK rights to spy thriller series Alex Rider, based on Point Blanc, the second novel in Anthony Horowitz’s young-spy franchise.

The eight-part series stars Otto Farrant (War & Peace) as Alex Rider, a London-based teenager who has unknowingly been trained since childhood for the dangerous world of espionage.

Pressured to help investigate his uncle’s death and how it connects to the assassination of two high-profile billionaires, Alex reluctantly assumes a new identity and goes undercover in a remote boarding school called Point Blanc.

Alex Rider, which also stars Vicky McClure (Line of Duty), will premiere on Prime Video in the UK on June 4. It is produced by Eleventh Hour Films and Sony Pictures Television.

Horowitz exec produces with Jill Green, Eve Gutierrez, series writer Guy Bart and Andreas Prochaska, who also co-directed the series with Christopher Smith.
