Bookaboo combines puppetry, live action and CGI animation and follows a drum playing, rock star puppy that cannot perform until he has been read a story.

Each episode sees a different celebrity guest read a story to the dog and Paula Abdul, Michael Sheen, Molly Parker and Hannah Simone are among those set to appear.

The series originally aired in the UK on the children’s channel of commercial broadcaster ITV between 2009 and 2010, before being remade in Canada with TFO.

UK prodco Happy Films, creator of the original show, has teamed up with Sinking Ship Entertainment in Canada to produce Amazon’s version of the preschool series, which will be released to Amazon Prime subscribers in the US and UK on October 28.

“Bookaboo is an exciting show developed to promote literacy by inspiring parents to read to and with their children and help instil a lifelong love of reading,” said Tara Sorensen, head of kids programming at Amazon Studios.
