Amazon is readying its Prime Video streaming service in France, Italy and Spain for a launch by the end of 2016, according to a local report.

The e-commerce giant’s brand name has recently been registered in France and talks are ongoing for launches in Italy and Spain, according to French daily newspaper Le Figaro.

No official statement has been released by Amazon, but the company could provide further details during its next earnings report on July 25.

In Europe, Amazon Prime Video is available in the UK, Austria and Germany. It also operates a service in Japan, where it recently revealed its first original shows for the country.

Meanwhile, Amazon is reportedly lining up an Indian version of its SVoD service for the end of this year and it is reported that it will invest US$300m to make original content in the region.

In April, Amazon went head-to-head with global streaming rival Netflix by launching a standalone pay-monthly service for the first time in the US.
