Amazon picks up Spanish procedural

Caronte will be dubbed into French and Italian for Amazon

A Spanish police procedural commissioned by local broadcaster Telecinco is to premiere around the world via Amazon Prime.

Caronte has been picked up by Amazon after originally being commissioned by Mediaset España-owned Telecinco.

The series will be dubbed into French and Italian in addition to the original Spanish version for Prime subscribers, with each episode dropping the day after its premiere in Spain.

Amazon and Mediaset agreed a content deal in 2017 which sees the streamer air the broadcaster’s original drama in Latin America and the US, including El Accidente, La Verdad, Sé quién eres, El Príncipe and La Que Se Avecina.

Produced in collaboration with Big Bang Media, Caronte is a police procedural about a victim of a miscarriage of justice who becomes a criminal lawyer after being released from prison. He sets about providing a better defence than he got to those charged with crimes they did not commit.
