Amazon collars Mad Dogs pilot

Online giant Amazon has ordered a pilot adapted from UK drama Mad Dogs for its Amazon Prime Instant Video streaming service.

Mad Dogs originally ran for four seasons and 14 episodes on UK satcaster Sky1, produced by Sony Pictures Television- and BBC Worldwide-backed prodco Left Bank Pictures.

The new version will be written and executive produced by Shawn Ryan, known for police drama The Shield, and Cris Cole, who worked on the original. Left Bank is coproducing with Sony Pictures Television.

The US version will follow four men who get into trouble while visiting an old friend in Belize. It was originally developed as a miniseries for US cablenet FX last year.
