All3’s Miniaturist lands in Oz, Europe

The Miniaturist launches on BBC1 next month

Broadcasters in Europe and Australia have acquired the BBC’s forthcoming period thriller The Miniaturist.

The three-part drama, from UK prodco The Forge and sold by All3Media International, has been picked up by SVT in Sweden, Spanish OTT service Filmin, Neovision in Poland and VRT in Belgium.

BBC First in Australia has also acquired the series, while Viasat World has taken the drama for its soon-to-launch Epic Drama channel.

Based on the novel by Jessie Burton, The Miniaturist was commissioned by the BBC and coproduced with PBS strand Masterpiece in the US, in association with All3 and UK-based Lemaise Pictures.

The show, which premieres on BBC1 this December, tells the story of a house in Amsterdam where, beneath its lavish beauty, lie forbidden passions and dangerous secrets.
