All3Media Int’l closes Japan, Taiwan sales

Travel Guides Australia has been acquired by BS Disney in Japan

MIPCOM: UK-based distributor All3Media International has sold programming to U-NEXT and Disney Channel in Japan and Catchplay in Taiwan.

VoD service U-NEXT has picked up Neal Street Productions’ Informer (6×60’), a thriller about a young second-generation Pakistani man from London who is coerced into informing by a counter-terrorism officer.

It has also secured two seasons (16×60’) of Screentime’s Playing for Keeps. Produced for Australia’s Channel Ten, the drama is set on the sidelines of professional football and told from the perspectives of women.

In addition, the deal covers drama Dark Money, produced by All3Media-owned The Forge, which looks at the effects on a family after they discover their son has been abused by a film producer and they accept a pay-off.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s Catchplay has picked up rights to three-part drama Mrs Wilson, which has also gone to Japan’s Tohokushinsha Film Corp for its Super! Drama TV channel.

Starring Ruth Wilson, the show was inspired by the memoir written by the actor’s grandmother about her family history and was made by Snowed-In Production for BBC1 and Masterpiece.

All3Media International has also sold Travel Guides Australia to Disney Channel in Japan. The deal will see all three seasons of the show, totalling 24 hours of content, air on satellite channel Dlife. The series follows six groups of ordinary Australians as they take on the job of travel critic.

Finally, 10-episode series Celebrity Undercover will air on Wowow in Japan. The show sees celebrities go incognito to search for tomorrow’s stars in their chosen field. It is an All3Media America and Studio Lambert production for US broadcast network CBS.
