Distributors prep London Screenings

The first London Screenings will be held digitally

All3Media International, Banijay Rights, Entertainment One (eOne), Fremantle and ITV Studios have joined forces to launch the London Screenings as a formal event in March 2021.

The distribution giants have been working together to coordinate their own independent spring screening events in the UK capital for several years, coming just after the annual BBC Studios Showcase event in Liverpool.

Now the five companies are teaming up to establish The London Screenings as an annual event in its own right.

The inaugural event will launch on March 1 next year, following the BBC Studios Showcase, which is scheduled to take place from February 22 to 24. The first edition will be held virtually, with a view to a return to live physical events from 2022.

In a statement, the group said: “Over previous years, the week in London post BBC Studios Showcase has become a destination for key buyers around the world. This has been down to the calibre of the events and presentations arranged by the key London-based distributors.

“Having listened to our buyers, the logical evolution is for those companies to bring buyers a fully curated series of quality showcases across two weeks, each planned to avoid screening conflicts and all under the official banner of The London Screenings.”
