Alibi brings The Gulf to UK

New Zealand-set crime drama The Gulf

CONTENT LONDON: UK-based multi-channel operator UKTV has bought drama series The Gulf from distributor Banijay Rights.

The 6×60′ thriller centres on a detective who finds herself caught between upholding the legal justice system and morality as she investigates crimes in her home town in New Zealand.

The series is a coproduction from Banijay Group’s Screentime New Zealand, Lippy Pictures and Studio Hamburg Production Group’s Letterbox Filmproduktion for German broadcaster ZDF and New Zealand broadcaster TV3.

UKTV has bought The Gulf for its crime drama channel Alibi, which will launch the series in early spring. The announcement was made as C21’s Drama Summit, part of Content London, got underway this morning.

Poland’s Canal+ has also recently picked up The Gulf for its channel Ale Kino+, while AMC Networks-owned US streaming service Sundance Now is set to launch the series this week.
