Al Murray visits Pub on Quest

Comedian Al Murray is known for his Pub Landlord character

Discovery-owned UK factual network Quest has made its first comedy entertainment commission with an order for a 21-part quizshow featuring comedian Al Murray.

Al Murray’s Great British Pub Quiz (21×60′) is being produced by UK-based Avalon and will pit the country’s most passionate pub quiz teams against each other.

Simon Downing, senior VP and head of Quest and Eurosport UK, said the network’s first move into comedy entertainment formats was part of a strategy “to broaden the channel’s appeal.”

Downing ordered the show, while Victoria Noble is commissioning editor. Jeremy Phillips exec produces for Discovery and Jamie Isaacs does the same for Avalon.

The show, which ail air in 2019, joins other programming for free-to-air Quest including new episodes of Salvage Hunters and its spin-offs Salvage Hunters: The Restorers and Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars.

New seasons of Scrap Kings, Outback Opal Hunters and Aussie Gold Hunters are also set to return to Quest in 2019, along with highlights of lower-league English football.
