Aito hires MTV exec for formats

Finland-based production outfit Aito Media Group has hired an exec from local commercial broadcaster MTV to run its entertainment branch.

Tomi Suomela is joining the firm, which was acquired by France’s Lagardère Studios in October last year, as director of entertainment and formats.

The position was created following the restructuring of Aito into three branches – factual, entertainment and drama.

Suomela will oversee entertainment production, product development and sales. At MTV he was responsible for programme development and formats acquisition.

Aito MD Ilkka Hynninen said: ”Aito has had rapid growth on several fronts. In the era of audiovisual turbulence, it’s crucial to have the right professionals in the right places. We are very happy that Tomi has joined the Aito team.”

Created in 2003, Aito Media specialises in unscripted programmes, entertainment formats and scripted series.
