AGC partners with Gaspin

AGC Television, the US-based TV division of AGC Studios, has agreed a multi-year overall deal with former NBCUniversal Television Entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin.

Jeff Gaspin

The deal covers scripted and non-scripted television projects and will see the exec’s Gaspin Media develop and produce a slate of content for AGC Television.

Gaspin will work with AGC Studios chairman and CEO Stuart Ford, AGC Television president Lourdes Diaz and AGC’s London office. In addition, he will be added to AGC’s board as a non-executive director.

AGC Studios is an independent content studio that was launched earlier this year by former IM Global CEO Ford.

As chairman of NBCUniversal Television, Gaspin oversaw a portfolio of 16 broadcast and cable networks including NBC and Telemundo, airing shows such as America’s Got Talent and The Voice.

Prior to that, he was president of Bravo, where he bought and launched Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Project Runway. As head of reality for NBC, he developed Deal or No Deal, Biggest Loser, Fear Factor and The Apprentice in the US.

When he was head of programming for VH1, Gaspin created the series Behind the Music. He is currently an executive producer on LA’s Finest, starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, for Spectrum’s OTT platform and To Tell the Truth for ABC.

Additionally, Gaspin Media has produced First Impressions with Dana Carvey for USA, Fit to Fat for A&E and Match Made in Heaven for WeTV. It also has series in development at Netflix, Amazon, Showtime, Fox, CBS and Lifetime.

Gaspin’s deal with AGC was brokered by AGC Studios chief operating officer Miguel Palos on behalf of AGC and by Mahdi Salehi at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller on behalf of Gaspin Media.

The pact follows a period of recruitment in key roles at AGC Television, including AGC TV president Diaz, VP of non-fiction Rachel Traub and VP of scripted TV Matt Bankston.

Further hires across film and television will be announced over the coming months, AGC said, “as Ford aggressively seeks to build a leading-edge premium content production, financing and distribution studio.”
